Business network to provide stepping stone into emerging markets

A new business network was launched recently to help promote international trade between the Leeds region and Central and Eastern Europe.

The Central and Eastern Europe Business Network has been developed to help businesses make the most of the trade opportunities in Europe – particularly Romania, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria.

The network will take advantage of the high profile business relationships that Leeds City Council already has in Romania, the Czech Republic and Bulgaria. It has been developed by a partnership between Leeds City Council, Alfran UK and YFM (Yorkshire Fund Managers) Group.

The network was launched in Leeds by the newly appointed Romanian Ambassador to the UK, Ion Jinga.

Councillor Richard Brett, executive board member responsible for international relations said: “Leeds has a number of twinning projects with cities around the world which can help generate international trade for our region. I hope this new project will be a success and help local businesses establish a foothold in emerging foreign markets.”

Benefits of the business network include networking opportunities with local and international companies as well as ambassadors, ministers and guest speakers from the region. There will also be access to seminars and conferences and a regular online newsletter.
