The High Growth Markets Programme encourages the internationalisation of UK companies by providing advice to selected firms with the potential to enter or expand in target high growth markets.

Paul Duffy brings substantial experience from the communications, software and fast moving consumer goods sectors to develop international trading opportunities for UK companies in Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Mexico. Paul has developed and delivered international strategies for businesses which have involved building regional sales and distribution networks, identifying and negotiating acquisition opportunities, formulating and delivering joint venture and partnering agreements and licensing technology. Based in Turkey for five years, Paul worked closely with the Turkish government and private sector in establishing a joint venture which delivered a significant proportion of the country’s telecommunication infrastructure.

Stephen Evans brings substantial experience from the industrial, manufacturing and trading sectors to develop international trading opportunities for UK companies in South East Asia. An experienced managing director, who has held roles in corporate planning and business development for multinational industrial groups, Stephen has worked closely with a diverse range of market sectors, including chemical processing, water treatment, utilities, electronics and infrastructure.

Dr Andrew Hinton brings substantial experience from the electronic, instrumentation, performance engineering, manufacturing, energy and environmental sectors to help develop international trading opportunities for UK companies in South East Asia and South Korea. Andrew is an experienced international business development manager with broad knowledge and first-hand experience of pioneering market growth in Asia Pacific countries. He has a comprehensive understanding of the unique business processes, socio-economic aspects and contact networks in China, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Vietnam and South Korea.

Peter Hurst brings substantial experience from the manufacturing and business service sectors to help UK companies develop business opportunities in South Africa, which is the recognised regional trade hub for much of the Southern African region and is also developing strong links with other BRIC countries (Brazil, Russia, India & China). Experienced in the aluminium, pulp, paper, packaging and printing industries, Peter has also assisted UK and South African companies to develop their international growth through export sales development, joint ventures, franchise arrangements, technology exchange and acquisitions.

Dr Juan Matthews brings substantial experience of entering and developing business in the Russian and North East Asian markets, particularly in the engineering and technology sectors, to help UK companies develop international trade opportunities. For the past five years Juan was the DTI International Technology Promoter for Russia, working with the British Embassy in Moscow to help UK businesses forge technology relationships in Russia and adjacent countries. Juan has a particular interest in nanotechnologies, coatings, composites and plant life experience and has experience of assisting businesses in the ICT and healthcare sectors.

Shakeel is a multilingual chartered engineer with a proven track record of establishing and delivering rapid growth of business for blue chip high technology multinational businesses operating in the Middle Eastern, African and Asian regions. Shakeel has over 20 years’ experience in the aerospace and defence sectors and has lived in the Middle East where he managed turnkey projects and formulated and executed market entry strategies into the region for blue chip companies.

Chris Wall brings substantial experience from a wide range of industrial and B2B sectors to help develop international trade opportunities for leading UK-based mid-corporate companies in Brazil and Mexico, the largest and most highly developed of the Latin American economies. Chris is an experienced international trade consultant on issues relating to market entry strategy and strategic market development for high growth markets. He has launched new companies and held senior positions in export sales development, international logistics and supply chain development in the UK, Brazil and Mexico since 1988.
